Job Description
We are seeking a visionary Director of Future Technologies to spearhead our strategic roadmap leading up to and beyond 2026. As the world hurtles towards a new era of technological convergence, Nexus Horizon Systems is building a team that will define the future of scalable computing and AI integration.
In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between long-term R&D goals and immediate business execution. You will be responsible for identifying emerging trends, managing high-level partnerships, and ensuring our infrastructure is resilient and innovative for the decade ahead.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the comprehensive 2026 Technology Roadmap, aligning technical milestones with business objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams in R&D to pioneer breakthrough technologies in AI, Quantum, and Sustainable Energy.
- Identify high-impact strategic partnerships and acquisitions to accelerate innovation.
- Oversee the transition of legacy systems to next-generation architectures.
- Foster a culture of innovation, risk-taking, and continuous learning within the engineering division.
- Present technical vision to the Board of Directors and key stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
- Manage a budget of over $10M for advanced research initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in senior technical leadership roles (CTO, VP of Engineering, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of leading transformative technology strategies, specifically targeting long-term horizons (e.g., 5-10 year roadmaps).
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration (MBA/PhD preferred).
- Deep understanding of emerging tech stacks, including Generative AI, Edge Computing, and Distributed Ledger Technology.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical executives.
- Demonstrated success in scaling engineering organizations and managing complex technical debt.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
