This role combines visionary leadership with hands-on research in quantum algorithms, error correction, and scalable quantum systems. You'll lead a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and computer scientists to develop commercially viable quantum applications. Our state-of-the-art Austin facility provides unparalleled resources for experimentation and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead quantum algorithm development for optimization and cryptography applications
- Design and implement error-correction protocols for fault-tolerant quantum systems
- Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate quantum processors with classical computing infrastructure
- Publish breakthrough research in top-tier scientific journals and industry conferences
- Secure $5M+ in research funding through government grants and private partnerships
- Mentor a team of 8-12 quantum computing researchers and engineers
- Develop roadmaps for quantum computing commercialization by 2026
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of quantum computing research experience
- Published work in quantum algorithms or quantum error correction
- Proficiency in quantum programming languages (Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#)
- Experience leading technical teams and managing research projects
- Deep understanding of quantum hardware architectures (superconducting, ion trap, photonic)
- Strong track record of securing research funding
- Expertise in high-performance computing environments
